All Set For CABS T20 Smashing Cricket

TWELVE teams will battle for honours when the ninth edition of the St Georges Twenty20 tournament gets underway from tomorrow  to Sunday.

Hosts, St Georges College will be aiming for a fifth title to give their headmaster of 16 years Brendan Tiernan a befitting farewell as he is set to leave the Harare School to pave way for Kevin Atkinson.

The Saints will however not have it easy as defending champions Churchill High School; three-time previous winners will be hoping to add to their trophy cabinet with another disciplined performance.

Prince Edward School and St Johns College cannot be ruled out of the running as their big match temperament gives them an edge whenever they troop onto the field. Petra, Peterhouse, Lomagundi, Gateway, Falcon and Christian Brothers College complete the local teams that will be represented.

The Johannesburg based duo of St Benedict’s Catholic School and St John’s College have made the long trip to Harare and are part of the 12-team cast that will battle for honours.

The tournament has continued to grow in recent years due to a committee of parents and St Georges staff who spend months organising the event with the support of the main sponsor, CABS.
