St John’s College Dates Chuchill As Super Rugby Resumes

Schools super rugby is back on our calendars with some interesting match-ups set for the weekend. The league was on a break to pave way for the provincial trials as well as the national trials that took place at Falcon College this past weekend.

Prince Edward, Falcon College and St George’s College will be looking at maintaining their unbeaten runs on the local scene as well as collect all points on offer to keep their hopes of claiming the league alive. It will be an uphill task but not an impossible one for Falcon College as they travel to Peterhouse Boys. Christian Brothers College will be looking for redemption against Prince Edward on Jubilee Field. St George’s College faces off against Kyle College in Masvingo.

In the Co-ed League, Lomagundi host Watershed while Hillcrest travels to Hellenic. Gateway High School and Petra  High School face off at the Golden Stairs school.

One talking point for this weekend will be the Midlands Christian College and Eaglesvale match which will be played in Gweru. After their showing at this year’s Cottco Schools Rugby Festival these two have stood out as some of the strongest teams in the league. MCC will be confident as two of their players have been named in the under 18 Craven Week squad but Eaglesvale won’t be taking any prisoners.

The other talking point will be the St John’s – Churchill match which is to be now played at Churchill instead of St John’s College. The Bulldogs stunned John’s in a fourteen men show at the Cottco Schools Rugby Festival and will be buoyant going into this fixture. St John’s have not been impressive in their last two encounters against Churchill, are they going to turn that around?
