Earlier in the year, frontrowzim.com profiled Michael Songore here. The young man has been posting impressive results in track and field, particularly over the shorter distances 100m, 200m and 400m.
Michael’s times earned him a ticket to the just ended World Youth Championships that were hosted by the IAAF in Donestk, Ukraine from July 10-July 14 2013. We have put together a couple of videos from the championships incase you missed the live events for one reason or the other. Team Zimbabwe did not win any medals in Ukraine but building on the team’s performance we can be optimistic about the next Olympics in Rio Di Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
The first video is from heat 10 of the 100m dash where Michael Songore took on Michael O’Hara of Jamaica, coming second after a great start. Songore qualified for the semi-finals but came third, missing out on a spot in the finals.
The second video is from heat 3 of the 200m event. Michael Songore was drawn in lane five against Michael O’Hara in lane four, coming second to him again. Songore fell out in the semi-finals where he came sixth in the first semi-final.
