Friends Become Foes As Saints Date Rams

Perennial rivals, St George’s College and St John’s College clash tomorrow at St George’s College for their last season fixture for the Super 8 league.

Saints come into the game on the back of Churchill defeat that ended their unbeaten run on Saturday. On the other hand St John’s College registered a massive win against struggling Christian Brothers College.

As always clashes involving the two teams are unpredictable as form is never really a factor. 10 of the 30 young men that will run on to Weaver field at St George’s College tomorrow were part of the Craven Week 2013 squad that was in South Africa a couple of weeks ago. Six from St George’s and four from St John’s.

St John’s will miss Nicholas Burnett, who passed away last week. Nicholas also represented Zimbabwe at Craven Week. Both teams are expected to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of Nicholas before the first team game kicks-off.

A win for ┬áSt George’s or a draw will see them shoot to the top of the Super 8 1st XV log and hope Prince Edward can record a win against Peterhouse Boys. Peterhouse Boys are the current log leaders with 42 points but St George’s College is not far off with 38 points in second place.
