The defending CABS T20 champions Peterhouse Boys have progressed to the final of the 10th edition of the tourney at St George’s College after an emphatic win against the hosts on Sunday morning.
The Marondera lads will face St John’s College in the final, who progressed after registering a 62 run win against Falcon College in the other semi-final.
Peterhouse will have to brace for the St John’s threat as they suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Harare school in the first play-off yesterday afternoon. Ross Nel, the St John’s head coach is not taking Peterhouse lightly though.
“It will be great to register another win but it’s a new day, there is pressure on both sides,” Nel told Frontrowzim.com. “Peterhouse has a number of good players but if we get their big boys out we give ourselves a good shot. Vice-versa is also true, if they get our big boys out early then we are in trouble.”
Kevin Barber, the Peterhouse head coach is happy to make the final with a young team that in his words, “has a good blend of youth”. Barber believes that if his boys play to their potential, they can defend the title successfully.
The plate finalists are yet to be decided, as the semi-finals are still going on. Kingswood and Hellenic are playing on Madden Field while St Andrew’s and CBC are battling for a spot on Weaver Field.
The cup final commences at 14:00 hours on Madden Field, and is set to be a great game of cricket in front of a sizeable crowd.
