Heartbreak For Zimbabwe In Semi-Final

The Zimbabwe U19 Girls Water-polo squad suffered a disappointing 7-5 loss to Border in the first semi-final at the ongoing S.A National Water-polo Championships yesterday evening.

Despite making it to the semi-finals without a single loss the girls were not favourites as Border had also put some brilliant display in their pool which was also made up of  Central Gauteng A, Western Province B and Eastern Province. The hot contest ended with Border edging Zimbabwe 7-5.

Zimbabwe will wrestle with Central Gauteng A for a podium finish at 8:45 this morning. It’s guaranteed to be a tough contest for Zimbabwe as Gauteng is the team that handed Border their sole defeat in the pool stages of the championships. On the brighter side Gauteng find themselves in the bronze contest because they lost to Western Province in the second semi-final yesterday evening.

Zimbabwe will take some confidence from the fact that they edged Western Province in their pool game, but more importantly they can derive some inspiration from Madiba’s words – “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
