The Zimbabwe International Sevens tourney is set for March 14 and 15, hosting teams from far away places such as Russia and Georgia, as well as neighbouring countries – Zambia and South Africa.
Supporting the main act will be a schools section to bring in a youth factor into the two-day event. Competing in the schools section will be old rivals Churchill and Prince Edward. Young boys Hellenic Academy will also bring their element of surprise to the party. Can they spoil the old boys’ feast?
St John’s College will be hoping to record a bit of success at this year’s tournament as years gone by have not been quite favourable for the Borrowdale school. Eaglesvale and Mbare Academy round up the list of school teams taking part in the competition.
All teams will play each other in a league format, with the positions being determined after the fifth round of games. There after the two top-placed teams will battle for honours in the final but before that, third and fourth will face-off while fifth and sixth will also battle to determine who gets the wooden spoon.
Games from the senior section will be live-streamed on the Internet as well as broadcast on SuperSport but at this moment SSN cannot confirm if schools’ games will receive the same coverage.
