Lomagundi College girls team put in a stellar team performance to win the Invitational at Lomagundi College on Saturday(29-March).
Girls teams at the meet were from Chisipite, Arundel, Peterhouse Girls, Chinhoyi, Kyle, Watershed, Goldridge, Gateway, Hellenic and Lomagundi. Due to the huge turnout, this meet is arguably one of the toughest locally and as it comes towards the end of the track and field season, teams struggle for depth as injuries and exhaustion kick in.
Two such teams were Arundel and Chisipite who despite having done really well during the rest of the season struggled to keep up. The two Harare schools however did well in the sprints and middle distance races. Arundel won all but one relay losing out to Lomagundi.
In the boys division, the relays did it for St George’s as they edged Peterhouse to win just by three points. Peterhouse were without their speedster, Michael Songore who has been haunted by injuries this season.
SSN is still to receive detailed results and information on new records set from Lomagundi and these will be put up as soon as they are made available.
