Chisipite Unveil Basketball Tour Kit

The Chisipite Senior School basketball team, who are scheduled to leave for Cape Town on Sunday morning unveiled their tour kit yesterday at the school.

The team has recieved massive sponsorship from well meaning corporates to make the tour possible. The kit handed over to the girls is branded with various sponsors’ logos of some big brands such as ZB Bank and Multichoice. Lovejoy Zhungu who from ZB Bank took pleasure in presenting the kit to the girls.

Asked of the inspiration of the sponsorship, Lovejoy confirmed that , “It’s a case of giving back as well as trying to do our bit in promoting sport here in Zimbabwe.”

Alison Roper who will be managing the team in Cape Town extended the team’s ¬†gratitude to all companies that have come on board to aid the parents with the tour naming them from the top of her head. “Thanks to the parents who have worked hard to get us this sponsorship from ZB Bank, Multichoice, CBZ, FMC Financial as well as Varichem.”

Chisipite’s first match up on tour will be against Settler’s High on Monday at 18.00 hrs before a 15.00 hrs clash against Camps Bay on Tuesday. On Wednesday the Zimbos will play St Cyprians before rounding off the tour with matches against Hershel Girls and Fairmont on Thurday and Friday respectively.

The two coaches, are happy with the team set-up and are planning on using the tour as preparation for the basketball season which is starts second term. “This is our opportunity to really mould the team for second term,” Martha Banda, the head coach told SSN. Martha tried not to give away too much but she is confident that her girls are capable of winning all their games on tour.

Skipper, Itayi Kuwodza believes her team is prepared for the tour and went as far as mentioning that, “Our biggest asset this year is the height we have on the squad, I think that will do us a lot of good at the baseline.”

The team is expected back home on Saturday 12 April.
