In a match played yesterday at Harare Sport Club, Mbare was at the mercy of the England Independent Schools XV (The Lambs) losing 76-00 in front of small crowd of about 300 spectators.
The first try came as early as the first minute from an uncollected kick-off which allowed the visitors to retain possession and score. The onslaught continued through out the first half and at half-time the scores stood at 59-00. Mbare managed to break the English line a few times but in all cases their players were isolated hence failed to make anything of them but gave away possession either through the boot or in a turnover ruck.
The game slowed down a bit in the second half, and Alex Laybourne attributed that to the “warmer and humid air which made it tough for his boys to play.” The final score came up to 76-00.
The Lambs will play Prince Edward at 16.00 hrs this afternoon. All Prince Edward boys are likely to come out and set a different scene from yesterday’s through their singing and war cries.
