Eaglesvale Claims Africa Day Sevens Shield

Prince Edward and Eaglesvale did battle in the final of the Africa Day Eaglesvale Sevens tourney held at the Willowvale school on Monday. Eaglesvale outplaying the Tigers 24-07.

The two schools, Prince Edward and Eaglesvale proved to be the in form teams in sevens rugby this season as they both cruised through to the finals without suffering a defeat during the pool stages. Monday’s final was a repeat of the Zimbabwe International 7s tournament final held in March this year were Eaglesvale and Prince Edward also made it to the finals at Harare Sports Club.

Eaglesvale lost the final at Harare Sports Club but ran onto the field with all the zeal on Monday and turned the tables, bullying Prince Edward throughout the game, denying them space to run the ball and do their magic.

Nsikelelo “Sykes” Sibanda, who was calling the shots for the final blew his whistle for the half-time break with the scoreboard reading Eaglesvale 10-00 Prince Edward. The hosts scored two more tries – converted – after the break, with the Tigers pulling only one back to leave the final score at 24-07.
