Full Marks For Chisipite at Golden Girls

Chisipite ended day two of the ongoing Golden Girls hockey tournament at the top of the table in Pool A with 15 points collected from their five group games.

Having posted a 2-1 win over the hosts – Arundel – and a comfortable 2-0 win over Midlands Christian College yesterday, Chisipite came into day two overflowing with confidence only to struggle against an eager Eaglesvale side in the first-half of their third group match playing out to a one-all draw heading into the break. The girls from Northern Harare proved too good for their counterparts though as they pulled away with three goals after the break to win 4-1.

Kyle College gave Chisipite a good run for their money even though Chisipite prevailed winning 1-0 before posting another 2-0 win against Gateway in their last match of the day.

Chisipite are clear winners of Pool A but the runner up for the pool will only be known tomorrow after the remaining Gateway-Kyle College group match.

Last year’s finalists, Peterhouse Girls dominated Pool B, ending Day 2 unbeaten but posting a one-all draw against Hellenic. Peterhouse tops Pool B with 13 points followed closely by Girls College with 10 points. Petra and Lomagundi are still to play their last group game before the play-offs tomorrow.

As it stands now, it looks like we might be headed for another Peterhouse-Chisipite final as was the case in 2012 and 2013 but nothing is ever certain in the world of sport, especially school sports.
