St Andrew’s Win Opener Against Hosts

The hosts St George’s took on St Andrew’s (SA) in each team’s opening game of the St George’s 20/20 tournament. Both schools have a strong cricketing history, meaning that this match would be nothing less than a classic clash.

St George’s never got going and were unable to build the solid base needed for a big total. The St Andrew’s bowlers were clinical and did not allow St George’s to score freely,  and tookk wickets on a regular basis. Opening bowler, Norval ripped through the St George’s top order leaving the hosts struggling at 26/5. A lone fight from Chisveto, the St George’s number five saw them to posting a respectable 90 all out.

The visitors were set for a somewhat casual chase, but St George’s struck early with Sly dismissing Embling in the first over, and struck again four balls later leaving St Andrew’s reeling at 5/2. The St Andrew’s College batsmen struggled to take off, as St George’s bowled with good discipline.
