Falcon College put up a spirited chase against Hilton College in the first Ram Slam semi-final at St John’s College this morning.Chasing a total of 175 against a side as good as Hilton was always going to be a tough ask but the boys from Esgodhini were up for it. Joshua Worsley got off the blocks well and rotated strike well with Matt McNab in a bid to establish a good partnership. McNab was dismissed by Hilton’s Lungi Ngidi to make way for Shaun Snyder who came in to bat at number three.Snyder gave Falcon a great chance at going through to the finals, hitting a quick half-ton off 24 balls. Working under pressure, the Hilton bowlers had to dig deep and it was spin bowler Stephen Reeves who got the breakthrough claiming the scalp of Snyder with the scoreboard stuck on the Nelson – 111. Falcon did however play out all their 20 overs but lost to Hilton by 12 runs.Hilton’s disciplined tight bowling in the last seven overs of the encounter insured their victory which sees them through to the finals to be played later today were they will face the winner of the St John’s – Michaelhouse semi-final.St George’s finally remembered how to win, posting a 10 run win over Peterhouse in their battle for seventh place. The Saints win means that Peterhouse are heading back to Marondera without a single win from this weekend and they finish in eighth place.
