A spirited Falcon College side edged St John’s College 5-4 in their final game of the Accorsi U17 Waterpolo Tournament which ended on Sunday afternoon at Chisipite Senior School.Falcon started their campaign with a 11-3 win over Hellenic Academy before handing Peterhouse a 9-3 defeat. Christian Brothers College put up a brave display against their neighbours scoring 6 past the Falcon goalie, but still lost 6-10. The boys from Esgodini were back to their best in their last match on Saturday posting another huge victory; 11-4 against St George’s College.St John’s College also enjoyed a great run on Day 1 of the Accorsi Tournament winning all games; 15-1 against Peterhouse, 10-2 against CBC, 13-3 against St George’s and 13-0 against Hellenic Academy.With both St John’s and Falcon undefeated after the first day of play, the winner of their match on Sunday was taking the Accorsi Cup home. Falcon College prevailed with a well earned 5-4 win in an exciting final.Falcon U17 captain, Brent Michelson attributed his team’s victory to team work. Michelson commended his rookies for stepping up to the task and giving the team the opportunity to emerge victors.St John’s College placed second with eight points while CBC came third with six. Peterhouse and St George’s tied in fourth place with two points each. After failing to register a single victory this weekend, Hellenic finished in sixth place.
