Falcon College‘s cricket first team is currently in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa on a week-long cricket tour that started yesterday.
In their opener against Kearsney College Tuesday, Falcon posted a respectable five wicket win with four balls remaining.
Wednesday Falcon will face Michaelhouse before getting on the road to Maritzburg where they face Maritzburg College on Thursday . On Friday the Zimbabweans play against Weston Agricultural College ahead of their sole tour rest day on Saturday.
On Sunday the boys from Esigodini will face Hilton College in an all day 50 over game. Hilton College are not new to Zimbabwean cricket. The Kwazulu Natal school won the 2014 St John’s College Ram Slam T20 tournament in September.
The Falcon College cricket team returns home on Monday, 2 February. A tour this early on in their year should help Falcon prepare for the local 2015 cricket season.
Do teams that tour early have a definite advantage locally over their counterparts who tour later in the year? What do you think about school teams who tour during the term as opposed to during Zimbabwean school holidays?
