The Old Mutual U18 Young Sables squandered a 15-00 lead in their second Craven Week match against Eastern Province Country Districts who finished happy 51-20 victors over the Zimbabwe side on Wednesday 16 July at Markotter Sports Complex in Stellenbosch.
The game started well for Zimbabwe getting on the board through Russell Dinha, Tinotenda Vheriwa and Ernest Mudzengerere before Stuart Dodington reached out to score what would be the last of Zimbabwe’s points of the game. Zimbabwe lead 20-15 going into the break.
Eastern Province CD’s Dakin Anthony marshalled his team’s attack well and kept Zimbabwe under pressure with his kicks into space. They were a number of negatives from the Young Sables but the team also scored multiple positives particularly at scrum time with a 330 kg front row.
While it’s been a tough week for the boys out here in Stellenbosch they still have all to play for when they face Namibia on Saturday in last fixture at this year’s Coca-Cola Craven Week.
