Justin Kersten, a L6 student at Falcon College, played a remarkable final day of golf yesterday (6 August 2015) at the RB Global Junior Golf Tournament in Germany, allowing him to rise from the 25th place in the 79 man field to finish 8th overall in the tournament. Kersten achieved an on par round with a day’s score of 72 on the challenging 18 hole course.
After a strong opening day hitting 75 which put him in a solid 9th place, Kersten had a challenging second day on the course at the Heidelberg-Lobenfeld Golf Club, finishing 8 above par with a score of 80, and sliding to 25th place. We applaud Kersten’s resilience to come back with such a strong final day and rise 17 places to finish an impressive 8th with a total of 11 strokes over par in three days.
Teammates Irvine Nembaware and Tarisiro Fundira gained valuable experience, but perhaps were not ready for the level of international competition, shooting +60 and +90 respectively and finishing 78th and 79th, the last two positions on the leader board.
The RB Global Junior Golf Tournament was won by Marcus Helligkilde of Denmark with an overall -1 par score shooting 73-72-70 over three days of competition.
