In an exciting cross-town rivalry final, Marlborough High beat hosts Prince Edward 2-0 on Sunday (2 August 2015) to win the U17 boys football Arenel National Association of School Heads (NASH) tournament. Neither team were tipped to play in the final, having been drawn in the “pool of death” with former Copa Coca Cola victors Chemhanza and Manunure. Captained by Leeroy Mavhunga, Marlborough brought $5000 back to their Harare West school as their prize, targeted to improve their sporting facilities and equipment.
Prince Edward, who hosted the tournament, beat St Francis in the semi-finals. Marlborough was victorious over Chemhanza in a 5-4 semi-final match decided by a tense penalty shoot-out.
The tournament served as a selection event for the Zimbabwe side to play in the COSSASA Ball Games which Zimbabwe is hosting in Bulawayo 26-30 August. The COSSASA games will use Barbourfields and White City Stadiums, both recently refurbished for the Region 5 games held there in December 2014.
