After an exciting day of boys’ football, St George’s and Peterhouse Colleges have emerged at the top of the fifteen team table to play off in the final of the CHISZ Football Tournament final 9am tomorrow morning (8 August 2015) at Midlands Christian College in Gweru.
Falcon and Gateway emerged first and second respectively in Pool A with 12 and 7 points, while St John’s College and Southeastern came first and second in Pool C also with 12 and 7 points. Pool B ultimately proved the toughest pool where St George’s finished the pool stages first with 10 points Peterhouse second with 8, Kyle third with 7.
It was the next round of games between the top eight teams that upset predictions. Gateway, who had been second to Falcon in Pool A came third overall in the tournament, with Kyle, who had been third in Pool B coming fourth. Southeastern came 5th, hosts MCC sixth and predicted frontrunners Falcon and St John’s 7th and 8th.
Masiyepambili came 9th but were the plate winners of the tournament with Hillcrest in 10th. The 11th through 15th placed teams in order were Goldridge, Lomagundi, Watershed, Petra and Westridge.
Who will ultimately win the tournament, Peterhouse or St George’s?
