A team of four girls selected by the Zimbabwe Junior Golf Association to represent the country have left for Kenya where they will participate in the first Girls All-Africa Junior Golf Challenge. The tournament gets under way on Friday morning (21 August 2015) at the oceanside Nyali Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya.
Zimbabwe’s team of four will face teams from Zambia, Nigeria, and Uganda and hosts Kenya. Egypt and Tunisia, who were meant to round off a tournament of seven teams, pulled out at the last minute. This first girls All-Africa Challenge will run alongside the boys’ Tri-Nations Tournament in which Zimbabwe is also participating.
Danielle Bekker and Margret Nyamukondiwa will represent Zimbabwe in the Championship Division. Daniela Banda will compete in the A Division and Nomatter Chikutwe in the B Division. The tournament is based on a 54 hole stroke play with the best three scores per round counting towards the final team score. Rhoda Muridzo, who is also the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union coach, will coach the side in Kenya.
