Zimbabwe’s U19 Girls’ Cricket Team in Clean Sweep

Zimbabwe’s U19 Women’s Cricket Team retained the Four Nations Cup in the fifth edition of the 2015 tournament this week in Gabarone, Botswana.  The Cup, in which Zimbabwe joined Namibia, Mozambique and hosts Botswana, used a round-robin format with the four sides playing 40-over matches against each other.

Zimbabwe won all their games to once again finish unbeaten and at the top of the log with 422 runs to win the tournament, with Namibia trailing far in second with 245, Botswana in third and Mozambique in fourth.  Zimbabwe first faced Namibia whom they beat by seven wickets.  They then took care of Mozambique with a 279 run win.  The girls’ final match against hosts Botswana saw them clinch a clean ten wicket victory.

Zimbabwe’s Josephine Nkomo was named both Batter of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament with 120 runs with the bat and three wickets with the ball.
