With the Smashing Cricket T-20 hosted by St George’s College behind us, it’s time for school cricket players and fans to look forward to the next big tournament. No worries, as there are only three weeks to rest until the 2015 edition of the St John’s College Ram Slam comes to life in Rolf Valley.
This year’s edition of the Ram Slam will take place 25-27 September with eight teams battling it out for the trophy. Two South African sides, Michaelhouse and Clifton are traveling to Harare to compete against six top Zimbabwean teams: Falcon, St George’s, Churchill, Prince Edward, Peterhouse and hosts St John’s College. Health International and Bon Marche are sponsoring the tournament and have brought out new kit in the colors of the rainbow for the participating eight schools.
Hosts St John’s College Rams will be hunting for a home turf advantage trophy, befitting the Ram Slam title, after losing in a tense 2014 final to a talented visiting side from Hilton College. The Rams defeated Michaelhouse in the 2014 semi-final, while Hilton defeated the Titans of Falcon College, who this past weekend lifted the Smashing Cricket plate. The Ram Slam will not be short on talent, and with the experience teams have just gained this past weekend at St George’s, they will be fired up and ready to deliver.
