A spirited chase from the Falcon College cricket side saw them knock out the hosts of the St John’s Ram Slam T20 to book their spot in the final on Sunday morning.
Ciaran Butler who usually bats in the middle order for Falcon sent out to bat first by coach Gavin Ewing in their chase of 145. Butler handled the responsibility well adding 83 runs to the scoreboard for the Esigodini side from just 47 deliveries. Fifty of Butler’s runs came from 12 boundaries (6 sixes and 6 fours).
Falcon captain, Shaun Snyder also found his form coming in to bat after the fall of the first wicket for Falcon off Lochlan Butler’s spin bowling. Snyder partnered well Butler to build a 78 run partnership that set Falcon on course for the win.
Earlier in the first innings, St John’s captain Ryan Murray top scored for his side with an unbeaten 67 runs from 41 deliveries. Falcon’s Keith Jaure recorded figures of 2/17 in his four overs.
Falcon now await the winner of the second semi-final pitting Prince Edward and South African visitors Clifton. In a quick interview after his great knock for Falcon, Butler told SSN that he is backing Prince Edward as he would want it to be an all Zimbabwean final.
