Zimbabwe’s U19 national Cricket squad arrived Saturday (7 November 2015) in Bangladesh, and has been training in preparation for the International Cricket Council Under-19 Cricket World Cup. The fifteen player traveling squad comprises young men from eight different high schools in Zimbabwe as well as several players based in South Africa and the UK.
As part of their training, the U19 selected squad is traveling to Bangladesh to play four one-day test matches against Bangladesh’s U19 side on 10, 12, 14 and 16 November with rest days in between. Team Zimbabwe will again travel to the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh, where the World Cup will take place from 22 January to 14 February 2016.
Although trials which occurred at Old Hararians Sports Club 16-18 October ended with the selection of a 24-member U19 squad, the squad has now been trimmed down to a lean 15 for the tour. The officials traveling with the team include Admire Marodza (Manager), Stephen Mangongo (Head Coach), Gregory Lamb (Batting Coach), Prosper Utseya (Bowling Coach) and Trevor Wambe (Physiotherapist).
