St John’s College Retain U14 Cricket Westridge Trophy

For the second year running, the St John’s College Rams’ U14 cricket team, under the expertise of Coach David Mutendera, have won the Westridge High School U14 T20. The tournament, started only last year as a new fixture on the U14 cricket circuit, was held at Westridge Friday and Saturday (13-14 November 2015).

The sweltering temperatures, hitting 35 degrees at their peak, did not deter the Form 1 boys from playing some excellent cricket. St John’s met Prince Edward in the final match of the tournament and defeated them by 100 runs.

Having won the Day-Night U14 Tournament held at Hellenic Academy last weekend, the Rams have secured their dominance in the U14 age group for cricket this season. At the prize giving ceremony, St John’s Captain Brendon Mason was named the “Best All Rounder” in the tournament, his second such title in two weeks, having won it at the Day-Night tourney as well.
