Twelve coeducational high schools from around the nation have sent their first team boys’ and girls’ teams to Gateway High School for the annual Coed Hockey Festival. Running from Thursday, 28 April through Saturday, 30 April, the festival has featured some evenly matched teams in pre-season hockey excitement.
On the girls’ side, Gateway is showing a strong team this season. So far in the tournament, they have beaten Petra 1-0, Midlands Christian College 1-0, Watershed 3-0 and tied Kyle 0-0. The boys’ competition on the first two days included an uncanny number of scoreless draws with Eaglesvale, for example, ending matches 0-0 against Hellenic, Watershed, Midlands Christian and Westridge.
The schools participating in the tournament are: Eaglesvale, Gateway, Goldridge, Hellenic, Kyle, Lomagundi, Midlands Christian, Petra, St John’s High School, Southeastern College, Watershed, and Westridge. Each girls’ and boys’ side played five games, two each on the first two days and one on the final day.
