Saturday evening (21 May 2016) saw the naming of extended U16 and U18 Old Mutual Young Sables squads at a colorful dinner hosted by Lomagundi College in Chinhoyi after two days of national rugby trials.
Crispen Mhike, manager for the U17 side, named 26 boys for his training squad, while Tungamirai Mashungu named 33 players for his U19 training squad. The managers will further trim their two squads ahead of the South African Rugby Union Youth Weeks set for July in various parts of South Africa. The U17 Old Mutual Young Sables will play in the Grant Khomo Week set for Paarl Gimnasium in Paarl, Western Cape Province from the 4th to the 8th of July. The U18 Old Mutual Young Sables will play in the Craven Week at Glenwood High School in Durban from the 11th to the 16th of July.
