Former High School Stars Representing Zimbabwe In Rio

Many of the individual athletes representing Zimbabwe at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next month are former high school athletes who are developing their sporting talent on sports scholarships at colleges and universities in the United States. Sprinter Tatenda Tsumba(Eaglesvale) who will be running the 200m is currently a student at Brigham Young University while 100m sprinter Gabriel Mvumvure(Churchill) recently graduated from Louisiana State University. Swimmer Sean Gunn(Hilton), who will swim in the men’s 100m freestyle event, attends the University of Kentucky. Olympic marathoner Pardon Ndlovu(Mabvuku High) has now completed his studies at the University of North Carolina Pembroke where he ran cross country.
