After an average season, St John’s College brought both their 1st XV, the Rams and their 2nd XV, the Bullets, to England to train and play against some of the strongest British school boy rugby sides. As part of the 19 day tour, from 23 August to 7 September 2016, each team played four matches.
Both teams faced Hartpury in Gloucestershire on 24 August, with the Rams losing to the first team 22-47. Saturday, 27 August, they played their second matches against Stowe in very rainy conditions, with the Bullets losing to the Stowe seconds 34-0, and the Rams registering a 24-12 loss against the Stowe 1st team, one of England’s strongest sides.
Both teams had great third matches with the Rams posting a huge victory in Dorset 49-6 against Bryanston and the Bullets defeating the Clayesmore 1st XV 19-10. St John’s played on 4 September at Uppingham, with the Bullets beating Uppington Seconds 5-0 and the Rams victorious 24-12 against the 1sts, their final matches before returning to Zimbabwe for the start of the third school term.
