Arundel Victorious Over Girls College At Home

A well worked goal off a penalty corner in the last play of the third quarter sealed Arundel’s 4-1 victory over Girls College in a girls hockey league fixture in Harare on Saturday morning.

Gugu Sibanda who was in top form in front of goal, opened the scoring for Arundel with just under seven ┬áminutes played in the encounter. Girls College’s Chelsea Watson equalized for the Bulawayo side in the 18th minute to leave the scores all level heading into the interval.

The third quarter proved all important and was the biggest difference between the two sides that were otherwise evenly matched. An assist from captain Catherine Lavers, saw Sibanda put Arundel ahead 2-1 immediately after the break. Lavers added on to her team’s tally with a beautiful effort from a 20 meter run towards goal.

Despite leading 3-1, Arundel kept pressing forward. Off a penalty corner, Lavers set up Sibanda again, who made no mistake in front of goal to complete a well deserved hat trick.
